a box full of raw, yummy goodness!
Kaia Foods sent me a huge box filled with raw goodies galore! Among this loot were their Buckwheat Granolas (Raisin Cinnamon, Dates & Spices, and Cocoa Bliss), Fruit Leathers (Gogi Orange, Vanilla Pear, Lime Ginger, and Spiced Apple), and Sprouted Sunflower Seeds (Teriyaki, Sweet Curry, Sea Salt, and Cocoa Mole)!
Here are a few words from the Kaia company:
about kaia foods. kaia foods was founded with the belief that our health is best supported by eating an abundance of minimally processed whole foods. We sprout, mix and dehydrate our organic foods at low temperatures so that they remain 'raw.' No baking, frying, bleaching, or weird processing steps!
keep it simple. That's our philosophy towards food and our philosophy towards life. Eat whole foods for great health. Exercise daily. Laugh and smile often. Hug everyone. Be mindful of your choices and their impact on the earth. The keys to health and happiness are really that simple.
the story. kaia foods was born in the summer of 2006 when I was hiking in the Weminuche Wilderness of Colorado with my friends Nina and Billy. Somewhere just below the tree line on a sun-drenched day, inspiration struck. I decided to leave behind the world of finance and follow my dream to make minimally processed, truly healthy food more readily available to everyone and have fun doing it. Fifteen seconds later I passed a horseshoe on the trail (no joke!) and I interpreted it to be a good sign for the journey ahead. -Nick

Wow! These products really blew me away. I went through the granolas in just a couple of weeks...therefore, I only got one decent picture, but trust me, it does this granola justice. This breakfast bowl was delicious! Enter Cocoa Bliss Buckwheat Granola drowned in vanilla coconut milk, topped with sliced banana, and sprinkled with shredded coconut. Yum, yum, yum! I had many bowls like this one. All 100% delicious! The fruit leathers were very interesting for me. When I first received the package and looked at the flavors, I was skepticle. However, upon tasting them, I grew to like the exotic flavors and really enjoyed the change.
I am not a huge fan of sunflower seeds on their own, so I am still trying to make a dent in the little bags, but I do know that these were very flavorful and great accents to many of my salads. I was even thinking about grinding up the Cocoa Mole seeds into a sunflower seed butter. What do you think?
Overall, I was extremely impressed with this company and their generosity. I didn't expect such an adundance of goodies. Thank you so much, Kaia! I will defnitely be buying some more of those granolas in the future!
sprouted grainy goodness, baked to perfection (and a cute mug to go along with it)!
French Meadow Bakery prides itself in it's product line of great gluten-free breads/grains. These items weren't gluten-free, but they were still very good on the taste buds! The sproutedness (not a word, I know!) added a nice and chewy touch to texture of these breads. The tortillas surprised me by being so pliable - they didn't rip or tear as I suspected would happen. The bagels were sort of small, but they filled me, probably due to the 13g of protein in one bagel! Impressive! I enjoyed both the bagels and bread smeared with Earth Balance and jam as well as nut butters. Obviously. :) The tortillas made nice lunch wraps and single-serve pizza crusts.
The only disappointment I had was the fact that I wasn't able to finish all of it. For some reason all three products molded before I could finish them off. :( I don't know if I should have refrigerated them, or not. There weren't ant instructions included in the box. I do wish that I could have finished them because they were so good and I felt bad for wasting. However, I still give French Meadow 2 thumbs up! I love their 100% natutal approach and how tasty their breads are. They also included some coupons, so when I go to Whole Foods next time (tomorrow - yipee!), I will have to pick up something yummy - I had my eye on their Hemp Bagels!
Be sure to look for these two companies' products in a store near you! They are worth every penny from your pocketbook. :)
