Rant

Frustrated. Yes, me. I am frustrated.

What gives people the right to pick on other people's dietary lifestyles? Don't you hate it when someone cracks a joke about you not eating this, or that? Being a vegan or vegetarian? "Come on, just eat a hamburger."

I am seriously annoyed by it and I am done with it. I'm to the point where I will go off on someone the next time they try to shove meat in my face or make a snarky comment. What gives them the right to manipulate me, or any of us for that matter? We don't shove lettuce in their face or tell them to eat a vegetable. It's ludicrous.

At least once a week I will be harassed by the boys who sit a lunch table away from me. From throwing ground hamburger meat from their spaghetti right in front of my face to daring me to eat hot dogs for ten dollars - I am fed up.

I am seriously considering getting rid of most of my Facebook friends because most of them I don't even talk to. They just hover around, trying to get as much dirt as possible on people who they don't even converse with in real life. The other day I set my status to "Stomach pains. Gahh" because I was having a little bit of intestinal discomfort (which is usual for me, especially when I haven't eaten for a while and then eat a big meal), and sure enough people comment: "Maybe your stomach is telling you that it wants a big steak or hamburger..." and "Yeah, maybe you should eat some food ;)"

Okay, those two people are my friends, but it is those comments that just aren't necessary. Maybe it wouldn't have bothered me as much if I hadn't been having so many problems with those boys at school. Either way, I am tired of the comments, jokes, criticism, teasing, and harassment. Why do I need this?

That's right. I don't need it. IT needs to stop. THEY need to stop.

Another form of discrimination has surfaced. It seems like everywhere you look people find something else to pick on and discriminate against. If only this world were a much more well-rounded place where people could accept differences and learn to live together but not alike. I am not asking for everyone to become vegetarian or vegan. I am only asking for more appreciation and respect for those who are.

I know I am not the only victim of harassment or discriminatory remarks. Who else out there feels disrespected? Tell me your stories. Vent your feelings.
